Ormidale Estate is a 23 acre estate situated in the stunning scenery of the Cowal peninsula and the Kyles of Bute, just an hour and a half from Glasgow. This luxury holiday property includes Ormidale House, a beautifully maintained 17th century Laird's House with landscaped gardens, sauna and indoor swimming pool; plus two stunningly converted steadings. These three properties are available to let separately or combined, by the week or for short breaks, catered or self-catering, depending on your party size and budget. Ormidale can accommodate a party of up to 66 people, catered or self-catering.

Overview:

The Ormidale estate overlooking Loch Riddon in Argyll contains three luxurious holiday properties, a staff cottage, and a shared indoor swimming pool. The largest property is Ormidale House, a beautifully maintained 17th century Laird's House with landscaped gardens; plus two stunningly converted steadings - the 'Mill House', and the 'Old Barn'. The house nestles in 23 acres of mainly wooded private grounds just above Loch Riddon, with its own lochan, river, and waterfalls abutting thousands of acres of forest. In the stunning scenery of the Cowal peninsula and the Kyles of Bute, it is almost impossible to believe you are just an hour and a half from Glasgow.

These three properties are available to let separately or combined, by the week or for short breaks, catered or self-catering, depending on your party size and budget. For special celebration meals we’ll introduce you to the fabulous team at An Lochan (formerly the Royal Hotel at Tighnabruich and voted one of the best 100 hotels in the world) who do the outside catering at Ormidale.  There are plenty of fabulous restaurants nearby, but there is something very special about the dining hall, and having the brilliant An Lochan chefs sweat over the Aga and wait on you hand and foot for you is perhaps the best of all worlds!

This unique estate and romantic location is perfect for special celebrations, corporate breaks, or as a fabulous base for multi-family and multi-age holidays. It’s a fabulous location for kids. Dogs are welcome.

Ormidale House was built in the 17th Century, then extended under Sir Robert Lorimer in 1900 into a lovely, light, airy house with great entertaining spaces. It has bags of atmosphere and history without the formal atmosphere of a hotel. It sleeps up to 30 in 13 bedrooms, with maximum adult occupancy of 24. There are eight bathrooms, ten toilets.

With a drawing room, TV room / snug, full-size Billiard Room, playroom also with SKY TV, large kitchen with AGA and breakfast room downstairs - as well as the impressive dining hall seating 24 - Ormidale has sufficient accommodation to cater for any large house party. We have laid out the bedrooms to offer real flexibility; two rooms are set up as twins, three as king-size doubles, and one as a quadruple bunk room. The other seven bedrooms can be set up either as super-kingsize doubles, as twins, or even sometimes as triples. All bar two of the bedrooms have either an ensuite bathroom or a basin. There are four further bathrooms, two separate loos, and a sauna. Altogether, the house has nine showers and ten wc's.

You can walk for an hour within the house's own gardens, and immediate access into the forests and onto the mountains mean this is a fabulous base for walkers and cyclists. Sailing, fishing, shooting, and stalking of the highest quality are all available locally. There’s a 9 hole pay and play golf course fifteen minutes away above Tighnabruaich. Cowal Golf Club at Dunoon and Inellan are the 18 hole courses in the area that welcome visitors. The owners are also happy to help you arrange other activities such as clay-pigeon shooting, archery, paint-balling or off road driving - just let them know what you would like to do and they will try to organise it for your group.

School holiday and half term weeks are all High season rate

Shortbreaks are two or three nights including a weekend, or three or four nights midweek.
All school holiday weeks are treated as high season.

Shortbreak prices for 2 or 3 nights are approximately 75% of full week prices.

Booking terms:

A booking is confirmed on receipt of 25% deposit of the cost of the holiday. Remainder due 2 calendar months before the holiday commences.
£500 good house-keeping / damage deposit is required in cleared funds a week before occupancy (fully refundable as long as the house is
left in good order).

Price includes all heating, electricity, towels, bed linen and an initial supply of logs.

No smoking, no stag parties.

Cancellation Policy:

If the Hirer cancels a confirmed booking he/she remains liable for payment of the full cost of the holiday. Upon receipt
of written confirmation of the cancellation from the Hirer, the Owner will endeavour to re-let the property and if successful
will make a full refund to the Hirer less an administration fee of £55 (inclusive of VAT) and any other expenses incurred in
re-letting.

Upon receipt of deposit payment, the Owner will take out a cancellation insurance (at a cost, borne by the Owner of 2.99%
of the booking) protecting the hirer against the need to cancel in certain circumstances. The claim, in the event of a claim,
is to be pursued with the insurance company by the hirer; failure of the insurance company to pay does not mitigate the hirer’s
responsibility to pay.
