Perthshire Travel Information:
Situated at the heart of Scotland, Perthshire's central location makes it the ideal base for exploring some of the most beautiful areas in the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands.
Perthshire is close to the major cities and transport links yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be able to relax and simply enjoy the scenery.
There are 3 main towns in the area; Dunkeld, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, each of which are unique in their own way. Dunkeld is the ancient gateway to the Highlands, Pitlochry the Victorian Spa town and Aberfeldy the road to the western Highlands from Jacobite times.
Founded on rich, fertile soil, Kings, Queens, armies, poets, artists and heroes have passed this way leaving a legacy of castles, churches and battlefields giving Perthshire an unparalleled inventory of impressive built heritage.
The Highland Boundary Fault Line, a geological feature running from Stonehaven to Largs and which splits Scotland into Highland and Lowland, runs right through the middle of Perthshire.
Perthshire will give you variety during your holiday; beautiful scenery, a thriving arts and cultural scene, lots of history and more! It is the adventure capital of Scotland with world class fishing, walking routes ranging from waymarked forest trails to lofty treks in the mountains, great cycling routes both on and off road and an unsurpassed range of golf courses to satisfy all abilities.
For those seeking more adventure why not test your nerve with a spot of cliff jumping, canoing or white water rafting, or simply get closer to nature with a relaxing Highland Safari.
